How to make a successful and popular website or blog. Making a well known website. |
So you started your new blog website and have spent hours working on developing your content, because after all, ‘content is king’ right? Not only have you posted dozens of entries, but you have also spent time bookmarking your sites, submitting articles to article directories, being active in related niche forums, etc. But how come you aren’t getting the thousands of visitors a day like you thought you would?

To many, making a popular website is like the holy grail to a webmaster. But how does one make it in the internet world full of, literally, millions of different websites? I am by no means and expert when it comes to making well known websites, however I believe I have finally found the key to making a popular website.
The key to starting a successful website:
The key: sticking with your website or blog over a long period of time.
Many bloggers get into blogging because they think that, within a month of starting their website, they are going to get hundreds of visitors each day. If only it were that easy. In reality, you will be lucky to get 100 regular visits each day within 3 months time of hard work.
Think about it: If it were that easy, wouldn’t everyone and their mother have a popular website or blog? Probably 90% of all new bloggers out there give up on their blog within 3 months because they aren’t getting the results they want.
So what else is left to do for my website?
Just continue posting to your blog or website daily if possible. I know it is extremely hard to keep up with a regular posting schedule. Some weeks I post an article every day…but then I start getting burnt out. Then the next month I will be lucky to add a few new posts. You basically have to force yourself to blog each day for a period of a month until it becomes habit to post daily.
Also, continue to promote each post you make. Continue bookmarking, writing articles, being active in forums, etc.
The Snowball Effect
Web traffic is sort of like a snowball effect. The snowball starts out small (you starting the website). As it rolls down the hill it slowly picks up mass (you promoting your website). Your snowball takes a setback when it hits a rock, losing a big chunk from the side (a bad day or week for web traffic). However, your snowball continues to roll down the hill, bigger than when it first started, and slowly gaining more mass.
This is exactly how websites work. By working and adding to your website each day, your website will slowly gain momentum. Keeping up with your blog or website continuously over years of time will slowly grow your website. This adds to your website momentum until it moves with such power that nothing can stand in its way.
It’s OK to get discouraged! Just don’t give up. Stick with your website for a long period of time and I guarantee you your website will become popular. Just have patience!
Have you ever made a successful website or blog?
If you have had success building popular websites, what did you do? Did it take you years or did it happen over night? I look forward to reading your comments!

I’ve started up dozens of website and unsurprisingly most have failed!
However, my two most popular sites couldn’t be more different – one took 2 years of content writing and link building to establish a solid stream of traffic, while the other rocketed up the search engine rankings in a matter of weeks, with little content and only one or two backlinks (to be fair it was a completely untapped niche).
So I guess it mainly depends on the subject of your website, although the majority of subjects will undoubtedly take a huge amount of time and effort.

One of the best ways to increase the traffic and the popularity of your website is to offer free products, lists of things, resources, tips and other things
Users love those things and they will keep coming to your blog, and making comments, etc
