Web hosting - the last form of free speech in America?

The Patriot Act passed by George Bush allows the Government to circumvent its citizens’ granted rights on a whim without any checks from 3rd parties. Our right to free speech in America is practically gone. The media is no longer legit. Its’ news stories are mere government propaganda. Because of this, I believe the internet and web hosting is the only way for the American to find out what is really going on and voice his/her opinion about it.

By no means is the internet a guaranteed source for accurate information, however it can’t be worse than the government propaganda that we have been spoon fed over the last decade. It is important that Americans stop listening to TV media and start researching things on the internet. This is the last form of unrestricted information left in the US. That is why it is important for American citizens to have their own websites. It is imperative that all Americans sign up for a web hosting provider(whether it be a free or paid) to fight for your right to free speech.

A web hosting provider enables you to voice your opinion without government censorship. However, this is being threatened by our government today. Congress is trying to pass laws to start internet censorships on bigger hosting websites like YouTube and MySpace. They realize that these internet sites are giving out the information they have worked so hard to keep away from us.

If these censorships pass, the small web hosting providers are the only medium for the truth about what is really going on. We need to fight to keep free speech alive and the only way left to do this is through your website. You are not guaranteed your voice on YouTube and MySpace when these censorships past. The only way you are guaranteed your voice is by having control over your web space. Yes, the Government could censor the small hosts, but they can’t stop them all. There will always be a web hosting company around that won’t be pushed around and will fight to keep our rights. And if they somehow manage to censor them all, they can’t censor all the web hosting providers in Europe or other countries.

It is important that your voice is heard through your website. Because without it, we are nothing but pawns with no say in how we run our lives.
